Paper industry transformation and upgrading must be more powerful

After nearly 30 years of rapid development, China's paper industry has solved the problem of supply shortage in the industry and achieved the basic balance of production and demand. It has now entered a stage of deep development. At this stage, all large and medium-sized papermaking enterprises will face new challenges and tests. It is also an important opportunity for the paper industry to win growth, optimize portfolios and transform development methods. Whether it can achieve new results in the new development stage is also a significant advantage for papermaking enterprises. key.

In recent years, China's paper industry has been vigorously promoting new technological revolutions and new process innovations while introducing large-scale foreign advanced technologies, and in new products, new equipment, and new processes, including energy conservation and emission reduction, forestry-paper integration, Continuous breakthroughs in technological innovations such as low-carbon industries have narrowed the gap with advanced foreign technology, consolidated and improved domestic industrial upgrading, and stimulated the development space of the industrial chain, providing good technical support for the deep development of the paper industry and accelerating industrial upgrading. .

It is not difficult to find out that the development of China's paper industry is mainly based on large-scale investment and expansion of production capacity. The space for scale expansion is now being compressed, and the potential economic growth rate supported by resources, energy and environment is gradually decreasing.

In 2013, China's paper industry encountered great difficulties and the first negative growth, resulting in an average annual growth rate of less than 1.7% in the paper industry during the first three years of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, far lower than the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” growth of 4.6. %The goal. From the production and operation of paper and paperboard in 2013, although the newly added papermaking capacity is about 19 million tons, the amount of paper products exported has dropped slightly, while the demand for paper and paperboard as an accessory product for export commodities has also decreased. Affected by the unreasonable product structure, the structural overcapacity of production capacity, the total consumption of newsprint decreased by nearly 4.4% for the whole year, and there are overcapacity of 10%-15% in the current industry.

From January to February this year, China's exports of wood pulp, waste paper and paperboard reached 35,000 tons, an increase of 156.93% over the same period last year. The total value of wood pulp, waste paper and paperboard exports reached US$310.254 million, an increase of 60.25% year-on-year. The export volume of caustic soda pulp in the first two months was 5,749.75 tons, a rapid increase of 111.19% year-on-year; the general mechanical wood pulp export was 9.4 tons, and chemical wood pulp and sulfite wood pulp were not exported.

In the first two months of this year, the unit price of China's wood pulp, waste paper and paperboard exports declined rapidly, with an export price of US$885.2 per ton, down 37.63% year-on-year. The unit price level of all varieties has declined. The unit price of waste paper exports was US$249.7 per ton, down 35.36% year-on-year; the unit price of caustic soda pulp exports was US$595.54 per ton, down 20.85% year-on-year; the export price of other fiber wood pulp was US$1357.56 per ton, down 17.28% year-on-year.

From January to February this year, the export volume of pulp and paper products in China increased significantly, and the value of the paper also increased. However, the price market was not well controlled and declined slightly. According to industry analysts, the reason for this situation is that China's economic development situation has improved slightly this year, the foreign trade situation is more active, and the export volume of pulp and paper products has increased, especially for several major varieties such as caustic soda pulp and newsprint. The volume growth rate is obvious.

At present, in the face of new opportunities and new challenges in the new stage of paper industry transformation and upgrading, coupled with a series of national policy adjustments, the development of papermaking enterprises depends on whether they have the strength and whether they have sufficient strength. If paper companies can't grasp this opportunity, the economic benefits will continue to decline. Because, with the slowdown of China's economic development and the severe export situation, the growth rate of the downstream industry of the paper industry will gradually decline. Coupled with the impact of low paper weight, the paper industry will continue to face many disadvantages. Difficulties.

In the new stage of development, papermaking enterprises must first calmly think about, fully understand the current situation, understand market needs in depth, establish new development concepts, choose new development directions and development approaches, and pay attention to the following three aspects: First, Solve the problem of excess stocks; second, do a good job of eliminating backward production capacity, implement technology transformation and upgrading as soon as possible, and strategic shift of the industry; third, further improve development quality and economic benefits, and produce high quality and low price with minimum production cost. New products enter the market, making the paper industry take a new step in the new stage.
